CO2 Calculator – Becoming more sustainable together with our customers
Majestic’s motto is “Protect What Really Matters”. This is not just about protecting ourselves during our work. At Majestic, we also see this as protecting the earth, the environment and our fellow human beings. Therefore, this year we have focused on projects that reduce our own environmental impact and increase our customers’ awareness and understanding of this issue. One such project is the CO2 Calculator which is now available to our customers.
What is the CO2 Calculator?
With Majestic’s CO2 calculator, customers gain insight into the CO2 emissions of their deliveries. In the dashboard, customers can see, among other things, the number of deliveries, the kilometers traveled and the resulting CO2 emissions. The calculation of the CO2 emissions is made based on the weight of the order and the number of kilometers that must be driven. Using emission factors, we can give an indication of the CO2 released during transport. With this dashboard we hope to give our customers more insight into their scope 3 emissions by visualizing the impact of their orders.
How is the calculation being made?
There are some assumptions in the model because, unfortunately, we cannot determine all transport data with certainty. For example, the number of kilometres was calculated from the DHL distribution centre directly to the customer. This does not take into account any routes or other delivery addresses of other DHL customers. Also, each customer is divided into a province, to which a DHL centre is linked. This does not mean that this is also the actual route the shipment took.
Despite these assumptions, the CO2 Calculator gives a nice indication of CO2 emissions and the impact of our customers’ ordering decisions. In this way, we quickly provide practical insights and support our customers in their sustainability efforts.
